ICE~ Industrial Cooling Engineers Ltd under an ABB Distribution Agreement are the provider of ABB direct drives on Cooling Towers and Air Cooled Condensers.
The fan drive units are installed directly connected to the fan impellor thus eliminating a gearbox, drive shaft and external Electric motor or belt drive system. The drive unit used in conjunction with an ABB controller can achieve power savings of up to 80% at half cooling capacity. Due to the unique ability to ‘fine tune’ fan speed to optimum fan efficiency the power savings can also be significant at full cooling capacity.
Operational Noise level reduction is also achieved as the gearbox noise and higher speed induction motor noise are no longer part of the mechanical equipment drive train.
Each system is specifically engineered to the required air volume in order to achieve optimum thermal capacity for the Cooling Tower or Air Cooled Condenser.
